What are Ozlandish Writings?

From July 2010 to December 2014 we ran OZLAND PICTURE STORIES as described below. Sadly though the number of writers reduced over the years and we decided to call it a day. We leave these as a record of the good times we had.

Are "You" ready to challenge your writing skills? Then participate in our OZLAND Picture Stories writing series at The Ozland Art Gallery.

Each month a new picture will be picked, from our OZLAND Artist of the Month collection, with different themes. Your goal is to write a 500-1000 word... poem... essay... or story about the picture picked. This is a chance for you to challenge your writing skills each month. Story can be written in ANY genre... sci fi... romance... ghost... fantasy... fiction... non-fiction... biography... mystery... historical... whatever your writing genre... feel free to experiment. Send your writing inworld to Sven Pertelson as a notecard to have it included on the web site. We meet at the The Ozland Art Gallery each Wednesday at Noon and 6pm SLT to read the latest submissions on voice. More Information

"Little Bird" by Llola Lane

"Little Bird" by Llola Lane

Little bird up in a tree,
Little bird looks at me,
Another bird flying high,
Can not see me from the sky.

Little fox in the brush,
Little fox in such a rush,
Doesn't hear me over here,
Goes right past me to chase a deer.

Little deer with mom and dad,
Little deer is ever so glad,
He listens to them as he should,
And runs with them to the wood.

Little bird still sitting up there,
Little bird now watches a hare,
Safe up in that tree so fat,
It watches as the animals scat.

Little hare forging for food,
Little hare doesn't mean to be rude,
It fill it's mouth, and then it's sack,
And scurries off and doesn't look back.

Little mouse in the snow,
Little mouse cowers low,
Runs so fast with his spouse,
Off they go to their house.

Little bird watches it all,
Little bird let's out a call,
Then it flies up on the roof,
And quickly realizes it made a goof.

Big huge cat sees the bird,
Big huge cat is never heard,
The bird didn't see me looking at him,
And now it's fate is very grim.
