What are Ozlandish Writings?

From July 2010 to December 2014 we ran OZLAND PICTURE STORIES as described below. Sadly though the number of writers reduced over the years and we decided to call it a day. We leave these as a record of the good times we had.

Are "You" ready to challenge your writing skills? Then participate in our OZLAND Picture Stories writing series at The Ozland Art Gallery.

Each month a new picture will be picked, from our OZLAND Artist of the Month collection, with different themes. Your goal is to write a 500-1000 word... poem... essay... or story about the picture picked. This is a chance for you to challenge your writing skills each month. Story can be written in ANY genre... sci fi... romance... ghost... fantasy... fiction... non-fiction... biography... mystery... historical... whatever your writing genre... feel free to experiment. Send your writing inworld to Sven Pertelson as a notecard to have it included on the web site. We meet at the The Ozland Art Gallery each Wednesday at Noon and 6pm SLT to read the latest submissions on voice. More Information

"A Bedtime Prayer" by Llola Lane

"A Bedtime Prayer" by Llola Lane

A poem inspired by Prayers at Bedtime

Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
If I should die before I wake
I pray the Lord my soul to take.

Little girl all dressed in white
says her prayers in the dark of night
Like an angel she softly speaks
and thanks the Lord through hands she peeks.

She thanks the Lord for mom and dad
and grandma and grandpa make her sad
for they are in heaven long since passed away
but she knows she will see them yet another day.

Next she thanks him for brothers and sisters too
and the new little cat they found that goes MEW
It's black as night and soft and furry
and it rubs against her as if to say HURRY.

Lastly she thanks the Lord for her home
and is thankful that she got that brand new comb
She quickly mentions all her friends
and finishes her prayers with love she sends.

She grabs the kitty from on the floor
and puts it next to her as mom closes the door
Tired as can be she's all snug in her bed
And drifts off to sleep... 'nough said!
