What are Ozlandish Writings?

From July 2010 to December 2014 we ran OZLAND PICTURE STORIES as described below. Sadly though the number of writers reduced over the years and we decided to call it a day. We leave these as a record of the good times we had.

Are "You" ready to challenge your writing skills? Then participate in our OZLAND Picture Stories writing series at The Ozland Art Gallery.

Each month a new picture will be picked, from our OZLAND Artist of the Month collection, with different themes. Your goal is to write a 500-1000 word... poem... essay... or story about the picture picked. This is a chance for you to challenge your writing skills each month. Story can be written in ANY genre... sci fi... romance... ghost... fantasy... fiction... non-fiction... biography... mystery... historical... whatever your writing genre... feel free to experiment. Send your writing inworld to Sven Pertelson as a notecard to have it included on the web site. We meet at the The Ozland Art Gallery each Wednesday at Noon and 6pm SLT to read the latest submissions on voice. More Information

"Lady With a Hat" by Llola Lane

"Lady With a Hat" by Llola Lane

Lady with a hat... Who can she be?
Lady with a hat is looking at me
Lady with a hat so proper and prim
Lady with a hat that has a wide brim

Lady with a hat... Is she very old?
Lady with a hat does what she's told
Lady with a hat doesn't make a smile
Lady with a hat holds her pose for a while

Lady with a hat... Having her picture taken?
Lady with a hat doesn't feel forsaken
Lady with a hat has loved ones waiting
Lady with a hat needs to hurry to go skating

Lady with a hat... Does she want a clock?
Lady with a hat hears them tick tock
Lady with a hat with so many to choose
Lady with a hat can not lose

Lady with a hat... Should she pay the clerk?
Lady with a hat sees the clerk work
Lady with a hat finds the clock she likes the best
Lady with a hat is almost finished with her quest

Lady with a hat... Who can she be?
Lady with a hat was as nice as tea
Lady with a hat said thank you to the girl
Lady with a hat was out the door with a whirl
