What are Ozlandish Writings?

From July 2010 to December 2014 we ran OZLAND PICTURE STORIES as described below. Sadly though the number of writers reduced over the years and we decided to call it a day. We leave these as a record of the good times we had.

Are "You" ready to challenge your writing skills? Then participate in our OZLAND Picture Stories writing series at The Ozland Art Gallery.

Each month a new picture will be picked, from our OZLAND Artist of the Month collection, with different themes. Your goal is to write a 500-1000 word... poem... essay... or story about the picture picked. This is a chance for you to challenge your writing skills each month. Story can be written in ANY genre... sci fi... romance... ghost... fantasy... fiction... non-fiction... biography... mystery... historical... whatever your writing genre... feel free to experiment. Send your writing inworld to Sven Pertelson as a notecard to have it included on the web site. We meet at the The Ozland Art Gallery each Wednesday at Noon and 6pm SLT to read the latest submissions on voice. More Information

Vespa ride - Part 2 - Lillian Morpork

Vespa ride - Part 2 - Lillian Morpork

As he plodded slowly along, Lexi became angry, and grumbled and mumbled to himself. ‘Who do they think they are, trying to take me over, body and soul? No one has the right to do that. Are they aliens, gathering a mass of slaves, one by one, to take over Earth? They can’t do that to me!’ As he walked, his mumbling became louder until he suddenly stopped, straightened, tilted his head back and shouted “No! You cannot! I am a free man; no one is allowed to take possession of my mind! I will fight you to my last breath! “

"Children of the Sea" by Marita Decosta

"Children of the Sea" by Marita Decosta

Little Billy was born on an island, a small island. So he was surrounded by the sea, but not just any sea. Little Billy learned that most of the world was water, some places called seas, some oceans, some lakes and ponds, and puddles, and there where rivers and streams. As he grew older he realized that he did indeed live surrounded by a very special sea called the Caribbean.

Alexander (AKA Lexi) James David George Fraser turned off the country road into the old, overgrown logging road. He was unhappy about a lot of things. For one thing, his name; his parents were big on English and Scottish men who explored Canada in the 1700s and gave him the names of the four they liked best. Then there was his fiancé, who had decided that their honeymoon absolutely had to be a trip covering all of Canada, and that in a three week period. Impossible! But he couldn’t get her to see it. And just yesterday afternoon, his boss had given him an extra assignment on top of the one that was already taking up nine hours a day six days a week. He was exhausted, fed up, and ready to get good and lost for a year or two.

A beauty to behold
a wonderous sight to be seen
wether far away or up close
or dirt or clean.
